Stewart has featured on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year (finalist) and Portrait Artist of the Year. Educated at Portsmouth Art College and LARA London Art School, his work is observational, using drawing and painting techniques based on traditional methods. These are combined with an experimental attitude and a passion for materials, allowing him to develop new methods of expression with established techniques.
In his own words, “It is magic when the canvas comes alive. The flow of brush and physical energy combine, and I get lost in the action of painting. Time has no hold and hours feel like minutes. I scribble, scrub and scrape all day in the search for truth and beauty. My passion is transported down the long bumpy road discovering art – in the pursuit of the human condition.”
He is influenced by Gustav Klimt, Sir John Everett Millais, and Anders Zorn.
