Maria trained in fine art at Chelsea and Farnham, specialising in printmaking at Camberwell College – where she was awarded the Peter Simor Prize. She went from there to UCLA to take up a printmaking scholarship and her work has been shown in exhibitions in London and across the south of England.
Her work is predominantly figurative, with a humorous story running through each piece. Maria says “I love people and their stories – everyone has got one!”
The etchings in this exhibition are a fresh and whimsical take on traditional English sporting prints, with a main subject of finding love.
