Annie studied printed textile design at Middlesex Polytechnic. After graduating, she designed and hand-painted her own range of bone china tableware (under her maiden name of Doherty) which was sold in Liberty and Thomas Goode in London, Henri Bendel in New York, and Japan. She also designed exclusive ranges for Marks and Spencer, among others.
In recent years Annie has returned to painting – the root of all her design work – and now concentrates predominantly on still life. She is fascinated by the seasonal changes in her garden and the surrounding countryside (particularly wild flowers) which have become the focus of her work. She works mostly in oils and occasionally watercolour, concentrating on light and reflection. Inevitably, her compositions often feature ceramics.
